Transition to School in Lanark County

Supporting community children’s service’s and 19 elementary schools with best practices around transition to school over a seven-year period, with $285,000 in funding from a variety of sources. Grant proposals, reporting, program development, community partner linking as well as directing all resources, resulted in The Learning Partnership’s National Award 2014-2015 Welcome to Kindergarten Award for Partnership Excellence, Kathy was nominated and selected as one of the four national recipients.

Baby Time in Lanark

Kathy led and co-collaborated with Cindy Goodfellow, OCT, and the Perth and District Union Public Library, on the development, implementation and training of the Baby Time Programs in Public Libraries in Lanark County. This was in response to the changes in education with Full Day of Early Learning which impacted library programming in Lanark County. These programs are now embedded in our communities and have been sustainable for over five years. With a starting fund of $30,000 in 2012, this project is now fully integrated into the library system.

As a contributing writer to this collaborative publication in the Literacy and Numeracy sections, and a familiarity with the children’s services through various partnerships, Kathy regularly presented informative sessions on the use of the guide with early years educators in Lanark County, in her role as the Early Literacy Specialist.
