Pedagogical Program Support

These are all sessions that were shared with local educators in Lanark County in my role as the Early Literacy Specialist from 2002-2017.

“My inspiration for this work comes from the connections and people I have met, who believe in the work of quality child care and programs that support the pedagogies of relationship, authentic materials, connections to communities and the wonderful ideas children come up with. I will continue to offer sessions to those who are interested in these ideas in a participatory dialogue where all are actively engaged in making meaning for ourselves in our own contexts.”

Pedagogical Documentation- An Introduction

Reflective Book Studies on a variety of pedagogically oriented books that support How Does Learning Happen?

“Kathy digs deep!!! I participated in a workshop series, facilitated by her, on the 4 foundations of How Does Learning Happen.  She delivered an in-depth, thoroughly researched approach to HDLH in manner that was engaging and inclusive of all participants.  She created an environment where we were able to explore the foundations with her as co-learners.  There were opportunities in these sessions to discuss the foundations with others in the group, explore materials, and approach the foundations with a sense of curiosity.  I enjoyed these sessions and Kathy’s interest in learning with others.”

“Kathy Boelsma is an inspirational speaker and is passionate about her journey as a Pedagogical Leader.  She shares her resources with others to bring on deep learning discussions between other educators so they too look at children through new lenses.  She challenges others to look at their learning environments and apply different theories and techniques that correspond with the documents mentioned but challenge past perceived beliefs. “
